Colored Contacts - Non-Prescription or with Prescription?

Like there many different color contact lenses to wear, there are also different people to wear them. There are those who already have a good vision want to use colored contacts only for cosmetic reasons and don't actually need the contact lenses to have any corrective effects. If you are one of those whp don't need any correction to their vision, but want to use color contacts, there is the option to choose non-prescription colored contacts. The only difference between the contacts that you need a prescription to get and the ones that you can get without prescription, is the corrective effect (and the lack of) they have on your vision (if you're nearsighted or farsighted).

Halloween Contacts and Crazy Contact Lenses

Best Color Contacts for Dark Eyes

So, you have dark colored eyes and are now thinking what's the best color contacts choice? Maybe you've heard somewhere or have thought yourself that there are some colors that don't really go well with those who have originally dark eyes. But it's no problem since there are of course those types that work great!

Well then, what are those that wouldn't look good on dark eye colors?
You should try to avoid all light tinted color contacts, like light blue, since they don't change your eye color almost at all. Also those that are meant to enhance (make your eyes look brighter) won't do much to your eyes, so you avoid them too.

Why don't they work with dark but do work with light colors?
That is because enhancing and light tinted don't completely change your eye color, but they just add to your original. So if you try use them on dark they might very slightly lighten it, but they won't change the color well.

Then what are good for dark eyes?
Opaque contacts (dual color contacts) are the choice for you because they completely cover your iris (the colored part of you eye) and opaque contacts have more color definition so they change your eye color completely, that way they work very well on dark eyes.
Also generally those special effects/crazy/novelty/costume contacts work on dark because they also change completely the color of your eye and not just enhance it.

How to insert and remove color and normal lenses easily

You have now bought yourself contact lenses (color contacts or normal, since these steps are the same for both) or maybe you are just checking how this is done beforehand and now you are wondering how to put them on. It's a good that you decided to find out a guide and not just try to put them somehow on because you could hurt your eyes and ruin your new contact lenses. It might feel little scary at first, but if you follow these steps, there should be nothing to worry and this will become easier the more you insert and remove your contacts.

Before you start, few things to notice:
- Wash and dry especially your hands and preferably face too to make sure that your contact lenses won't get any dirt because that could hurt your eyes.
- When handling contact lenses, do your best to avoid anything that could have bacteria or other dirt on it
- Try not do this when you're very sleepy (since you most likely do this at mornings and nights when you're naturally sleepy, you could wash your face with cold water to wake you up a little bit) because you could do it badly and accidentally hurt your eyes

Now the actual steps to inserting contact lenses:
1. Put the lens on your index finger open side up, then put a small amount of the solution meant for the contact lenses to the inner side of the contact.
2. Go in front of a mirror. Then turn your head a little bit to the right and keep looking at the mirror (so you're looking on your left side). By looking your right eye in the mirror (actually the eye on the left side when looking at the mirror), the colored area is now in the inner corner of your right eye.
3. Use the index finger of the the hand which the contacts isn't on to pull up your upper eyelid. Then use the middle finger of the where the contact is on to pull lower your lower eyelid to make it easier to insert it.
4. Now put the contact which should be on your index finger to the white area of your eye and then slide it to the colored part (you can at this point look straight at the mirror).
5. Blink couple of times so it feels good. After you blinked, some of that solution you put earlier on the contact should now come out your eye.

Then repeat those steps for your other contact (notice in step 2: do the same, but instead of looking at right, look at left). If it hurts after you put them on, you should take them off and check that they are clean, because even if you were careful, there could have accidentally gone some dirt onthem.

After you have inserted the contacts, you probably want to take them off at some point too. Here you should also wash and dry your hands (washing face isn't necessary) to make sure that your eyes won't get any bacterias. Removing them will be much easier and faster to do than inserting them.

1. Use the middle finger of your hand (use the hand which feels easier to use) to pull your lower eyelid lower.
2. Use the same index finger and thumb of the hand (which you are using to pull the lower eyelid lower) to pull out the contact lens. Just press gently your index finger and thumb on the contact (do not press your eyeball) and pull it out.

Then repeat the steps for your other eye. This will become much easier and natural after doing this a few times even if it might now feel little uncomfortable. If you're for some reason feeling irritation on your eyes, you should first wash them with water and if it still continues then you should go visit a doctor. Just remember to keep up your hygiene when doing this!

What my eye color has to tell me about my personality

Ever heard the saying ”You are what your eyes are”? Probably not, since I just made it up, but it's not so far from the truth. I don't know if eye colors actually are somehow related to one's personality, but I do know that people often relate different personality traits to different eye colors, like they define personalities based on clothes and I'm sure that you've done it at some point as well (maybe you didn't even notice it yourself). Though there is this good thing that you can use color contacts to change your eye color (and there are many other reasons why you should use color contacts).

So how does your eye color define your personality? Of course you can just think about this yourself and think how you would see others, but I thought of telling how some colors are often seen.
- Brown eyed are often thought as intelligent, kind and trustworthy people. They aren't often seen as shy people and creativity seems to avoid them.
- Blue eyed are thought as artistic, sweet and kind people. They aren't shy, but they aren't that outgoing either. Also they aren't seen as very smart or trustworthy.
- Green eyed are seen as sexy and creative people who also have a little devious side. They aren't exactly the sweet type and they don't seem trustworthy. They are also not afraid to stand up for themselves and those who need help.
- Hazel eyes mean a bright nature who likes to be the center of attention and who others like to be with.
- Gray means shyness and little mysterious side in a person. They usually like being by themselves because they aren't that good with social situations.

I'm sure you can see some points matching your personality, but you probably notice some that don't match your personality at all. Like I mentioned before, this might not be actually related to your personality, but rather this shows how people see you. So if your eye color doesn't really match your personality, but you'd like it to, you should consider buying color contacts that match you. On the other hand if you want others to see you little differently, for example if you're little shy, but would like others to see you as more outgoing, then you should also consider getting yourself color contacts. Is it safe to buy color or other contacts online?

This is a question that most have when thinking of buying color contacts online (or anything) and it's no wonder because internet seems to be full of scams nowadays. Answer to this question is "yes" and "no", it depends on where you will buy them from. There are online stores that you can absolutely trust and then there are those which deserve a second look.

How do you then know which to trust and which not to?
One good thing to do is to search (using Google, Yahoo or some other search engine) using the name of the store as the keyword (and maybe adding "good" or "bad" after the store's name) to see if others have written something about it (recommending it or saying it's a scam).
Then you should check their website (where you will do your shopping) to see if the legal stuff seems okay and if they've explained all the information you need (i.e. check their 'Terms of Use Agreement').
You should also check what kind of payment method they use so that it will safe for you to pay (since you're most likely paying using a credit card). Most proper online shops use PayPal and it's highly trusted.

Why are the prices much lower online than at my local contact lense store?
Well it's not because they're lower quality (they most likely use them contact lenses as that local store of yours uses), it's just because they can sell them much cheaper because they don't have so many expenses as normal stores and they have to sell them cheap to be able to compete with other online stores.

Find out why you should change your contacts from transparent to colored!

You might wonder what's the purpose of wearing color contacts and could you wear them in public?
Well if you read my What are color contacts post, you probably found some answers there, but I thought of going through this topic more detailed in this post.

Well people wear them for different reasons and use different kind of contacts depending on where they will use them.
Those who buy contacts with some special effects and well usually those unnatural looking, they often wear them at normal/costume parties, with friends, at halloween or maybe at some event (if you've read/watched Japanese cartoon series Naruto, you probably know what sharingan is, well those are quite popular when cosplaying/roleplaying Naruto). Those are really fun to use if you want to scare your friends (I mean, won't your friends be surprised when you somehow have vampire eyes) and if you are role playing (cosplaying) some character, eyes that fit your character will make you stand out from the rest.

Those who buy normal colored contacts (the natural looking ones) usually use them the same way as many (at least most women) wear make up or buy good looking clothes. It's part of their fashion. There are also those who'd like to use color contacts, but are afraid because of what people might say. Well they shouldn't be, like I said before it's just another way to look better and because they are so natural looking, no one will notice. Well if you change your eye color completely, your friends might notice.
But if you, no matter what, don't want them to notice, try to wear a color that is close to your original eye color. That way your eyes will still look more attractive, but they won't notice that you're wearing contact lenses.
I've used for years now and tried various types and at start I used only those that were to close to my original eye color, but about half a year ago when I changed my work place, I started using gray-green colored (my original eye color is brown).

Will the color contacts really make that much of a difference?

What are these color contact lenses you're talking about?

Color contacts are, like the name says: contact lenses (which are an alternative option for eye glasses) that are colored (the iris part of your eye will be colored, not the white area) instead of being transparent, so you can change your eyes' colors (there are ones that look scary and those that are natural looking, so no one will notice if you're wearing colored contacts or not).

Like normal contact lenses there are ones that you can use to correct your near or distant vision (prescription) and novelty (non-prescription) which are used only to enhance your eyes.
I have quite good eyes myself so I use the non-prescription ones.

There are many different color contacts. There aren't contacts with only some single color, there also lots of those that have some shape or pattern on it. Have you ever wanted to have that little sexy look with cats' eyes or maybe scare your friends with vampire eyes (I used my self the ones which you could see in the Twilight movie when I was at a costume party)? Well it's all possible now.
Maybe you don't want to change your eye color completely, but would like to make them look more attractive, well there are contacts that don't change your eye color, but make their original color look more brighter.
At work I often use the color contacts that are close to my original eye color, so they make my eyes look brighter and more defined (but still looking natural), so they look really really attractive.
